What began as a simple craft project at the local library has grown into a small but spirited business for a young creator who now sells her handmade Bible bookmarks at the Maker’s Market. I sat down with Aspen Frank and was able to ask her some questions.
Aspen first discovered bookmark-making at the library’s craft table, where she designed her own and instantly fell in love with the process. That moment sparked an idea: why not make more and share them with others?
Each bookmark she creates is unique. She enjoys mixing different patterns with ribbons and beads to make designs that stand out. Her favorite part of the process is using scissors to shape the materials and carefully adding beads—a step she says makes each piece feel special. On average, it takes her about twenty minutes to complete one bookmark from start to finish.
Among her many designs, two stand out as personal favorites: a brown cheetah-print bookmark decorated with a heart, and an all-blue sparkly one. She loves them both because of how pretty they turned out.
Her creativity doesn’t stop at bookmarks. She’s already planning to expand her product line to include bracelets and necklaces, hoping to bring even more handmade items to her customers.
Entrepreneurship runs in the family. She proudly mentions that her dad owns Frank’s Construction and says she looks up to him as an entrepreneur. She hopes to follow in his footsteps—not just to build a business of her own, but also to “make more money,” she says with a smile.
