Summer Days on the Fond du Lac Loop

The Fond du Lac Loop is about 16 miles long and connects different trails, bike lanes, and park paths throughout the city. Parts of it run through Lakeside Park, the Prairie Trail, Peebles Trail, and other areas around town. What’s nice about it is that every section feels a little different.

Every summer, one of my wife Jaci’s and my favorite things to do is walk and ride our bikes on the trails that make up the Fond du Lac Loop. Some days we head down by Lakeside Park, and other times we just pick a direction and ride. It’s one of the best ways to slow down, get outside, and enjoy different parts of Fond du Lac during the summer.

The Fond du Lac Loop is about 16 miles long and connects different trails, bike lanes, and park paths throughout the city. Parts of it run through Lakeside Park, the Prairie Trail, Peebles Trail, and other areas around town. What’s nice about it is that every section feels a little different. Some areas are quiet and relaxing, while others are full of people walking, biking, running, and enjoying the weather.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is how many people use the Loop once summer hits. You see families riding bikes together, couples out walking, people fishing near the water, and people just trying to stay active. It’s become a big part of summer in Fond du Lac for a lot of people.

For Jaci and me, it’s honestly just become part of our routine every year. Some of our best conversations happen while walking near the lake or riding through the trails at sunset. It’s simple, but sometimes those simple things end up being the best parts of summer.
