The Twisted Warrior Yoga Studio has been bringing accessible yoga to the Fond du Lac community since 2013. With 12 teachers offering practices ranging from hot power yoga to gentle, relaxing classes, owner Lucy Mathers believes yoga offers something for everyone, creating space for movement, stillness, connection, and community.
The Twisted Warrior Yoga Studio: More Than a Practice
Since opening The Twisted Warrior Yoga Studio in 2013, owner Lucy Mathers has had a simple goal: to make yoga accessible to more people in the Fond du Lac community. Keeping classes affordable was an important part of that vision, rooted in the belief that the more people practicing yoga, the better it is for the community as a whole.
While many people first come to yoga for its physical and fitness benefits, Lucy believes the practice offers something much deeper. Yoga can invite us to become more content with life, more honest and truthful with ourselves and others, and more compassionate toward ourselves and the people around us. “Can you imagine a world where everyone was compassionate and kind?” she asks.
For Lucy, yoga is life and community. It is about sharing, connecting, and remembering that we are not alone. The traditional definition of yoga is to quiet the fluctuations of the mind, a practice that can be difficult to cultivate in everyday life. Coming together to practice creates space to work toward that stillness, with the physical and emotional benefits becoming an added gift.
Today, The Twisted Warrior is home to 12 teachers, each bringing their own personality and approach to the practice. Some classes offer the challenge of hot power yoga, while others provide a gentler, more relaxing experience. The variety allows students to find a practice that meets them where they are. And according to Lucy, yoga truly is for everyone. Whether someone is dealing with an injury, physical limitation, or simply has never practiced before, there is a way to adapt the practice. The invitation is simply to reach out, share what you are experiencing, and find the class that fits.
