A Place Where Creativity Lives: The Fond du Lac Public Library

More than just a place to borrow books, the Fond du Lac Public Library is where creativity and community meet. From 3D printing in the Idea Studio to programs that connect families, teens, and lifelong learners, it’s a space that celebrates imagination, inclusion, and opportunity for everyone. Inside its walls, curiosity isn’t just encouraged, it’s brought to life.

More than just a place to borrow books

It's the heartbeat of creativity and compassion in the community. For generations, it has opened its doors to children, families, artists, and dreamers, offering a space built on curiosity, connection, and shared inspiration. Inside the library’s innovative makerspace, known as the Idea Studio, imagination takes center stage. Here, creativity comes alive through hands-on access to tools for 3D printing, embroidery, recording, and design. From middle schoolers printing their first creations to adults rediscovering hobbies, it’s a place where ideas truly become reality.

Support for All Beyond creativity

The library serves as a vital support system for residents of all backgrounds. Families, teens, and adults have access to technology, study areas, and online learning resources — ensuring that education and opportunity remain open to everyone. Even those without proof of address can receive a library card, reflecting the library’s mission of inclusion and accessibility. For those unable to visit in person, the Homebound Services program delivers books and materials directly to their homes, keeping the spirit of reading and connection alive.

Community & Connection

The sense of community runs deep through the library’s many clubs and programs. The Rook Club invites chess players of all ages to sharpen their skills and share their love of the game, while the Cut & Paste Club gives local creators the chance to explore collage and mixed-media art projects. In the Teen Space, young people gather to meet, play, and express themselves — building confidence, friendships, and creative identity along the way. As one of the city’s most important cultural anchors, the Fond du Lac Public Library continues to be a cornerstone for the community’s growth and future. Through partnerships with local schools, nonprofits, and organizations, it provides free digital tools, educational opportunities, and welcoming spaces for everyone.

“At the Fond du Lac Public Library — creativity doesn’t just live here, it leads here.”
