From Landmark to Lifeline: Octagon House Now Home to Walton Recovery House For Men
by McKenna Boelk · 11/16/2025

The historic Octagon House is now home to Walton Recovery House for Men, offering support, community, and sober living for eight residents. Run entirely through donations, Walton House provides essential resources including free men’s clothing and continues to bring the community together through events and outreach.
Deep in the heart of Fond du Lac, stands the historic Octagon House. Regionally known for its octagon shape, secret passageways, and antiquity, the Octagon House is truly a gem of the Fond du Lac community.

In recent years, the Octagon House has become home to Walton Recovery House for Men. Under the supervision of David Hames, House Manager, Walton houses 8 men with the promise of a supportive community, promoting sober living, encouragement, fellowship, and a roof over their heads. The house is a non-profit, meaning it relies on the good will and donation of the community; whether it be monetary, food, or clothing and household supplies.
In October, Walton House hosted its first event since opening: an outdoor Halloween movie night, complete with hot apple cider, home made Bavarian pretzels, various movie theater snacks, as well as a roaring fire. Proceeds from sales at the event went directly to Walton House operations.
Walton House also is a new, proud home to a selection of men's clothing, available for free to any member of the community in need.
