The Approach Brings a New Kind of Entertainment to Fond du Lac

I’ve been following the remodel of the old Windjammer East at Ledgeview Lanes for quite a while now, watching as Tyler Luedtke and his team turned the former banquet hall into something completely different. That space is now The Approach at Ledgeview Lanes, and after seeing the finished product in person, they did an awesome job. The place is beautiful.

This week, Jaci and I finally got the chance to stop in and try out the simulators ourselves. And one thing I learned pretty quickly is that you definitely don’t have to be a golfer to have fun here. Of course they have golf, but we also found soccer, football, hockey, basketball, Connect 4, darts, dodgeball and a bunch of other games. There really is something for just about anyone to play.

I reached out to Tyler Luedtke, owner of Ledgeview Lanes and The Approach, to learn a little more about the new space. Tyler told me this is actually the second Approach location, with the first located inside Anchor Lanes in Elkhart Lake. This year is also a pretty big one for Ledgeview. The bowling alley is celebrating its 50th year, Tyler is heading into his third year of ownership, and The Approach golf simulators are entering their third season.

So why bring The Approach to Fond du Lac? Tyler said when he had the opportunity to purchase Ledgeview, the former banquet hall gave him the perfect space to do something new. He saw an opportunity to bring a simulator facility to Fond du Lac while creating another fun experience for the community. And after watching the transformation happen, it’s pretty crazy to see what that old banquet hall has become.

Tyler also wanted to make one thing clear: The Approach isn’t just about golf. You don’t need to know how to swing a golf club or even have an interest in golf to stop in. The simulators have plenty of other games, making it a place for families, groups of friends, parties, events or just something different to do around Fond du Lac.

They officially celebrated the new Fond du Lac location with a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting, with Envision Greater Fond du Lac helping with the ceremony. The celebration continued throughout Friday with two breweries stopping in, simulator games, drinks and plenty more happening throughout the day. It was a pretty cool way to officially introduce the finished space to Fond du Lac.

And they’re just getting started. Golf leagues will be starting soon, and Tyler says anyone interested should get signed up as soon as possible. They’re also taking bookings for parties and events. After following this remodel and finally getting the chance to experience it myself, I definitely recommend stopping in and checking out what Tyler and his team have created at The Approach at Ledgeview Lanes.
