Antique German Spelter Blacksmith Figural Electric Lamp Glowing Forge c.1910
Sold by Brothers Antiques · Home Kitchen
$1200.00
An exceptional early 20th century German figural blacksmith lamp, circa 1910s. Finely cast in spelter with a rich bronze-toned finish, the sculpture depicts a blacksmith standing beside his forge with forging tongs in hand, accompanied by a detailed anvil and brick furnace. The forge retains its faceted red glass "embers," which illuminate beautifully when lit, creating the realistic effect of glowing coals,
Measures approximately 8" x 5" at the base and 13¾" in height.
For safety, the deteriorated original wiring has been professionally replaced with a modern lamp cord. As currently configured, the lamp does not incorporate an inline or socket switch and is operated by plugging and unplugging the cord. Collectors desiring a more period-correct presentation may choose to install a switched cord or period-style socket.
The lamp functions properly and, when illuminated, the furnace opening and faceted glass embers emit a striking crimson glow, convincingly simulating the appearance of a working forge.
