Sold by Brothers Antiques

$50.00

An exceptional early American painted ladderback side chair, circa 1835–1860. Features original black-painted surface with hand-painted ochre/yellow striping and floral stencil decoration, along with a handwoven rush seat. Classic rural vernacular or Pennsylvania Dutch / country farmhouse form with strong early American character.

Solid and structurally sound with honest age-related wear, paint loss, and patina consistent with age and use. Rush seat remains intact and displays well. An excellent example of early American primitive painted furniture.

Measures approximately 17” from the floor to the seat, and 32.5” from the floor to the top of the back rest

Seat area measures 16” x 14” deep

Due to the chair’s age and antique nature, it is being sold primarily as a collectible and decorative display piece rather than for regular everyday use.
