60 Years of Helping Our Neighbors

There are some organizations in our community that have been around so long that we sometimes forget just how many people they’ve helped along the way. ADVOCAP is one of them, and this year they’re celebrating an incredible 60 years of serving our area.

The milestone was recently celebrated with a ribbon cutting at Hotel Retlaw in downtown Fond du Lac, bringing together local business leaders, government representatives and community partners. Since 1966, ADVOCAP has been there to help people when they need it most. From housing and basic needs to helping people find work, supporting older adults and giving kids a great start through Head Start, their work reaches a lot of different corners of our community.

And the impact is still huge today. In 2025 alone, ADVOCAP programs helped nearly 7,800 people throughout Fond du Lac, Green Lake and Winnebago counties. Those aren’t just numbers. They’re our neighbors, families, kids and people right here in our communities who needed a little help getting through a tough time or moving forward.

Sixty years of helping people is something worth celebrating. Congratulations to everyone who has been part of ADVOCAP over the years and to those continuing that work today. Here’s to 60 years of making a difference right here at home!
