Last night, The Coliseum Sports Bar & Grill celebrated a big one. Twenty years. What started as a downtown sports bar back in 2005 turned into one of those places everyone in Fond du Lac seems to have a story about. Games on the TVs, drinks flowing, music playing, and that familiar buzz you only get in a spot that’s been doing it right for a long time. The 20-year opening party felt less like an anniversary and more like a reunion.
Over the years, the Coliseum became more than just a place to grab a drink or watch a game. It became a major part of Main Street. Whether it was a packed night during a big sporting event or a random weeknight with familiar faces at the bar, the Coliseum consistently delivered that comfortable, no-frills, everyone’s-welcome kind of vibe. It adapted with the times but never lost what made it feel like a true downtown staple.
A lot of that credit goes to owner Pete Katris, whose local-first mindset helped shape what the Coliseum became over two decades. Pete built something that lasted, not just in years, but in memories. Last night was a celebration of that work, the people behind the bar, and the community that kept walking through those doors. Twenty years down, and the Coliseum proved it’s still very much part of Fond du Lac’s story.
