More than 800 walkers came together for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Fond du Lac County, surpassing the $162,000 fundraising goal and expecting to reach $180,000 by year’s end. The funds will help local families access education, care, support services, and advocacy while bringing the community one step closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
FOND DU LAC, WI, OCTOBER 6, 2026 – The Fond du Lac County community came together in a wave of purple pride and determination for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Fueled by the energy and generosity of over 800 Walkers, the event surpassed their goal of $162,000 and is expected to raise $180,000 by year’s end. These funds will directly support families across the Fond du Lac County area with education, care, and support services, advocacy efforts, and the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900).
“This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Fond du Lac was nothing short of extraordinary. To see so many people come together, each with their own story and their own reason to walk, was incredibly moving. The joy, the energy, and the determination of this community give us strength and bring us closer to the day when we end Alzheimer’s for good. I am so grateful to every walker, volunteer, and supporter who made this celebration of hope and progress possible,” said Dave Grams, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter.
More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, one of the nation’s leading causes of death. Over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care for those affected. In Wisconsin, more than 110,900 people are living with Alzheimer’s, and 206,000 caregivers support them every day. In Fond du Lac County alone, over 2,671 residents age 65 and older are living with dementia, with that number projected at over 2,820 by 2030.
