Labor Day Weekend, things you could do
by Shane Michael · 9/4/2026

Labor Day Weekend is the unofficial end of summer, but there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the long weekend around Fond du Lac. Whether you’re heading to the lake, exploring local parks, visiting The Little Farmer, or simply grilling with family and friends, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a little more Wisconsin summer.
Labor Day Weekend is always one of those weekends that feels like the unofficial end of summer. For Jaci and me, we always enjoy it. We like to cook out, hang around outside, and enjoy the extra day off. We also like making the trip over to Elkhart Lake when we get the chance. It’s a great place to walk around, grab something to eat, enjoy the lake, and listen to the bands one last time.
If you’re staying around Fond du Lac this Labor Day Weekend, there’s still plenty you can do without going very far. Take the family out to Lakeside Park, go for a bike ride, get the kayaks out, hit one of our local golf courses, or find a patio and grab some food and drinks. You could also make a quick trip out to places like The Little Farmer, take a drive through the Kettle Moraine area, or head over toward Lake Michigan and spend part of the day in Sheboygan.
And sometimes the best Labor Day plans really aren’t plans at all. Fire up the grill, invite some friends or family over, throw some burgers and brats on, and enjoy the backyard. Stop at a local meat market like the Butchers Block, a bakery, coffee shop, or grocery store and grab some stuff for the weekend. There are a lot of great local businesses around Fond du Lac that would love to see you walk through their doors.
Whatever you end up doing, hopefully you get a chance to enjoy the long weekend. Wisconsin summers always seem to go way too fast, and Labor Day is a good reminder to squeeze in a little more summer while we still can. Whether you’re heading out of town, spending the day on the lake, cooking out with family, or doing absolutely nothing, have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!
