The Rare Spirits Brings a New Kind of Liquor Store Experience to Fond du Lac
I recently had the chance to chat with Sunny, from The Rare Spirits, one of Fond du Lac’s newest businesses. You could tell right away how excited he was to finally open the doors after more than a year of renovations, permits, and getting everything ready. While they already own a successful liquor store in Milwaukee, Sunny told me Fond du Lac had been on their list for a long time. They looked at several communities before deciding this was the perfect place to bring their newest location.

The best part is that The Rare Spirits isn’t trying to be just another liquor store. Sunny said their goal is to offer customers a much wider variety of bourbons, whiskeys, tequilas, wines, and other spirits that you won’t normally find on the shelves of larger retailers. They’re also making it a priority to work with smaller distilleries and local Wisconsin producers whenever possible, giving customers the chance to discover new favorites while helping support other small businesses.

Another thing I thought was really cool is that The Rare Spirits plans to host free tasting events where customers can sample different products before buying them. If you’ve ever been hesitant to spend good money on a bottle you’ve never tried, this is a great way to find something new without taking a gamble. The store is also adding a walk-in cigar humidor, a wine cellar featuring both California and imported wines, and a lounge area that will focus on bourbon and additive-free tequila experiences. It sounds like they’re building a place people will actually enjoy hanging out in, and shopping at to find rare and new items.

The Rare Spirits is planning a ribbon cutting which will be announced soon on their Facebook page, followed by a Grand Opening celebration. Sunny told me they’ll have distilleries on site offering free samples, including several brands that support veterans and other charitable organizations.
