Kids Kitchen Club Teaching Kids To Cook
by Shane Michael · 5/8/2026

Kids Kitchen Club is helping young chefs in Fond du Lac build confidence and independence through fun, hands-on cooking classes designed for beginner cooks ages 5–11. From making fruit parfaits and wraps to learning kitchen safety and basic cooking skills, the program creates a positive space where kids can learn, have fun, and feel proud of what they make.
Kids Kitchen Club is a hands-on cooking class designed to help kids build confidence and independence in the kitchen in a fun, beginner-friendly environment. Classes focus on simple recipes, kitchen safety, basic cooking skills, and encouraging children to try new things while having fun. Current classes are geared toward beginner cooks ages 5–11 and are split into two age groups: ages 5–7 and ages 7–11. Classes are held at the North Fond du Lac Community Center.
The idea for Kids Kitchen Club came from wanting to create something that teaches practical life skills in a positive and encouraging way. Many children are curious about cooking but feel nervous about using kitchen tools, getting hurt, or making mistakes. The goal of the class is to help kids feel comfortable in the kitchen while learning skills so they can continue practicing at home with their families.
The very first class recently launched and was a huge success. Kids made their own fruit parfaits and wraps while practicing beginner kitchen skills such as washing fruit, cutting bananas, measuring ingredients, assembling meals independently, and even washing their own dishes afterward.
One of the best parts of the evening was seeing how proud and excited the kids were after making food themselves. The children were already excited and asking about the next class before the evening was even over. Upcoming classes will continue focusing on fun, age-appropriate meals and beginner cooking skills, including scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, tomato soup, pancakes, and more.
Kids Kitchen Club hopes to continue growing as a positive community activity that helps children gain confidence, independence, and excitement around cooking. Families interested in future classes can follow Kids Kitchen Club on Facebook for updates and registration information.
