Fond du Lac Says Goodbye to Mix It Up Bakery
by Shane Michael · 8/1/2026

After more than 11 years of serving fresh baked goods and carrying on the beloved Everix Bakery tradition, Mix It Up Bakery has officially closed its doors in downtown Fond du Lac. As owners Scott and Jeanne retire, the community is saying goodbye to a bakery that created lasting memories for generations of local families.
Today marks the end of an era in downtown Fond du Lac as Mix It Up Bakery closes its doors after more than 11 years in business. While owners Scott and Jeanne are retiring, it doesn’t make saying goodbye any easier for the countless families who made a stop at the bakery part of their routine. From fresh donuts and pastries to cookies, breads, and cakes, Mix It Up became a place where memories were made one treat at a time. Over the past few days, many people stood in long lines for one last chance to enjoy their favorite treats and say goodbye to a bakery that meant so much to the community.
For many in the community, the bakery was also a way to enjoy a taste of Fond du Lac’s past through the beloved Everix Bakery recipes that lived on inside Mix It Up. Those familiar flavors brought back memories for generations of locals, making every visit feel a little nostalgic. As the doors close for the final time today, Fond du Lac isn’t just saying goodbye to a bakery, it’s saying goodbye to a place that became part of the community’s story.
One of those longtime customers, Lisa Reber, was among the many who waited in line one last time. She shared, “I stood in the rain 45 minutes to get a few of my favorite guilty pleasures! Thank you Mix it Up for amazing donuts that don’t make me sick with indigestion for days. I will miss the decadent Holland Bismarcks and the apple fritters the most. The Paczkis will also be greatly missed!”
Cheri Welch also reflected on what Mix It Up meant to her and the memories it brought back. She said, “I grew up in FdL in the days when there were several wonderful bakeries: Everix, Tastee, Bluebird, to name a few. Once Everix went out of business it was the end of the era of hometown bakeries that made everything from scratch, until Mix It Up came along. Their baked goods were so different than the others, you could tell everything was made from scratch! My waistline couldn’t afford weekly visits but when I did stop my 2 favorites were the Nut Covered and the Caramel frosted Persians. I managed to get a few of each on Friday morning after waiting in line for an hour. I arrived at 7(I didn’t realize that they opened at 6). I will miss all the goodies at Mix It Up but certainly wish the owners and staff all the best!”
Beverly Farr shared just how much Mix It Up Bakery meant to her. She said, “The first time I went to Mix it up Bakery and took that first bite of that delicious donut I knew that this is what Heaven’s Bakery must taste like. Going there was always a special treat. Just walking into Mix it up Bakery was like I was transported to another dimension of wonderful smells and delicious taste. Now that Mix it Up Bakery is closing, its like saying farewell to a dear friend and all those smiling faces that greeted everyone who walked through that door. It is with a sad heart that I say goodbye to Mix it Up Bakery, but also with feelings of love and appreciation for the owners who deserve their retirement for all their dedication to a place no one will ever forget”
