Fondue Fest Shows Off the Best of Fond du Lac

Fondue Fest filled downtown Fond du Lac with busy streets, local businesses, live music and plenty of familiar faces. After talking with around 50 people about what they love most about Fond du Lac, one answer stood out above the rest—the people and the strong sense of community.

If you were anywhere near downtown Fond du Lac yesterday, you already know how busy it was. Fondue Fest took over Main Street, and it was awesome seeing so many people out and about. The streets were packed, local businesses were busy, and everywhere you looked there was something going on. It was just one of those days where Fond du Lac felt alive.

Jaci and I spent a good chunk of the day walking around, checking things out and listening to some of the bands playing throughout downtown. But I think my favorite part was just seeing everyone. I ran into friends, business owners, people I haven’t seen in a while, and plenty of people I had never met before. That’s what I like about events like Fondue Fest. You can walk a couple blocks and end up having 20 different conversations along the way.

I actually decided to ask people one simple question while I was there: “What do you like about Fond du Lac?” I ended up interviewing around 50 people, from friends and local business owners to city officials and random people who were just out enjoying the festival. Everyone had a little different answer, but there was definitely a common theme. The people and the community. After spending the day downtown surrounded by thousands of people enjoying Fond du Lac together, I’d say that’s a pretty good answer.
